Woody Hawkins was 21 when he picked up his first guitar in southern Colorado. Under the brief tutelage of his old friend Brad T Brown, Woody was taught a few cords. His natural ability to play by ear and create music started Woody on the path of discovering a passion for singing and songwriting.
Coupled with his new found passion for music and a sense of spirituality found in God, Woody began writing symbolic songs of love, responsibility, truth, discovery, freedom, fears, life... and all that goes with it...and continues to find his inspiration everywhere he goes and in the experiences of the people he meets along the way.
Woody's creative side soon lead him into a genre that is clearly his own. He admires many musicians and styles of music. Truly, it is his own brand and style of intricate weavings of storytelling, his powerful vocals and his unique guitar licks and harmonica, that place Woody in a class of his own.
His first songs in the 90's leaned towards country. Since 2006 Woody has written a total of 60 plus songs. These songs remain uniquely "Woody Hawkins-style," being spiritually based and reflect a touch of jazz, blues, acoustic rock and a hint of country.
(Most of the above was written by Joey Huestis for the "No Reservations" CD inside cover.)
Eleven of Woody's original songs are offered to you on his first solo debut CD "No Reservations" recorded in 2003 with no vocal pitch changes or time changes and recorded "live in the studio." You can check it out here on this web site!
Woody is currently performing in Northern California and working on his next CD. The songs on this new CD will be all originals and have been written in the past and the present and will include a variety of styles which will create some great music. Some of life's changes and obligations have caused this CD to be long overdue. Look for it soon!!!
